App Store App Submission

These are the steps we follow to submit an app for review on the App Store.

Step 1 — Create the App

  1. In App Store Connect, click + > New App.

  2. Platforms — tick iOS.

  3. Name — enter the app name.

  4. Primary Language — select the language.

  5. Bundle ID — choose an existing one, or register a new bundle ID under Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles.

  6. SKU — enter a unique SKU for the app; spaces aren't allowed.

  7. User Access — set to Limited Access and select which teams/roles (e.g. Admin, Finance & Reports) get access.

  8. Click Create.

Step 2 — App Listing

  1. Go to the App in App Store Connect.

  2. Upload the App Screenshots (App Listing Assets) — required for each supported device size.

  3. Input the App details — description, keywords, support and marketing URLs.

  4. Select the build to submit.

  5. Input the customer details — this is the App Review Information Apple's reviewer uses to test the app:

  • Sign-In Information — a working username/password so the reviewer can log in and test the app end-to-end.

  • Contact Information — a name, phone number, and email Apple can reach if the reviewer has questions.

  • Notes — a short description of the app, and, where relevant, Account Deletion instructions (Apple requires apps that support accounts to let users request deletion, and expects reviewers to be told how to find that flow).

Step 3 — App Information

  1. Basic Setup — category, subtitle, and other core app metadata.

  2. Content Rights — declare whether the app contains, shows, or accesses third-party content.

  3. Age Rating — complete the questionnaire to get the app's age rating.

Step 4 — App Privacy

  1. Enter the Privacy Policy link — edit the Privacy Policy title on the App Privacy page and add the URL.

  2. Set up the Privacy Policy — click Get Started and complete the data-collection questionnaire:

  • Data collection: Yes, we collect data from this app.

  • Contact Info — Email Address, Phone Number. Purpose: Analytics, Product Personalization, App Functionality. Linked to identity: Yes. Used for tracking: No.

  • Identifiers — User ID, Device ID. Purpose: Analytics, Product Personalization, App Functionality. Linked to identity: Yes. Used for tracking: No.

  • Usage Data — Product Interaction, Other Usage Data. Purpose: Product Personalization, App Functionality. Linked to identity: No. Used for tracking: No.

  • Diagnostics — Crash Data, Performance Data. Purpose: Analytics. Linked to identity: No. Used for tracking: No.

  • Not collected: Name, Physical Address, Other Contact Info, Purchases, Advertising Data.

  1. Publish the App Privacy section.

Step 5 — Monetization & Submit

  1. Set the pricing under Monetization.

  2. Set App Availability (territories) under Monetization.

  3. Submit for review.

Review Time & What to Tell the Merchant

  • Typical review time: based on our experience, it can take up to 7 business working days for Apple to review a submission — though it often comes back sooner or later than that, since it's entirely on the App Store's side.

  • Requirements before submitting: a working sign-in for the reviewer, a complete privacy policy link, finalized screenshots and app details, and age rating/content rights filled in — an incomplete submission is the main reason review takes longer than expected.

  • Heads-up for merchants: editing the listing or build after submitting can trigger a fresh review, so confirm everything is final before clicking Submit for Review.
