These are the settings and steps needed to activate the Cart Hold theme app extension (app embed) for a merchant's Shopify store — this covers what merchants need in order to enable, configure, and install it in their theme. Cart Hold reserves items in a customer's cart for a set duration during a live stream.
Step 1 — Get Cart Hold Enabled
Contact support@apptile.com to have it enabled for the store.
Step 2 — Set the Hold Timer (Apptile Dashboard)
Log in to the Apptile Dashboard.
Go to Integrations and search for Apptile Cart Hold.
On the top right, locate Hold Cart For and set the duration items will remain reserved in a customer's cart.
Step 3 — Activate the App Embed in the Theme
In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds.
Toggle the Cart Hold app embed on.
Apptile App ID and Enable Cart Hold v2 are pre-filled and supervised/managed by Apptile — no action needed on these.
Expiry property label — the text shown to customers next to the hold countdown (default: "Expires On"); edit if a different label is preferred.
Click Save.
Step 4 — Preview & Confirm
Preview the storefront to confirm reserved cart items show the expiry label as expected.
Set a hold duration long enough for customers to complete checkout but short enough to keep inventory moving, and communicate it clearly during the live stream.
Note: Cart Hold requires desktop access to the Apptile Dashboard to configure, and needs Apptile support to enable the feature on the account before the app embed will function.
